COMPANY AND PRODUCT

Veldskoen is pronounced "felt skoon" and quite literally means “field shoe” in Afrikaans; one of South Africa's eleven national languages. If you find it difficult pronouncing the word  "Veldskoen", you can also call them "Vellies" (pronounced "Fellies").  This nickname is used by many South African cultures and it  seems to roll off the tongue a little easier.

Our Veldskoen are handmade in a sustainable factory, by master craftsmen and women, in Kwa-Zulu Natal. This region of South Africa is  known for its shoe manufacture throughout the world.

Our shoes and belts are made from a variety of fully tanned  bovine leathers, sourced from a handful of local tanneries. All our leathers are  sustainably and ethically sourced by-products of the local  meat industry.

The leather we use for our shoes is a natural product and has natural flaws and imperfections. Some of our shoes will have slightly different characteristics and colouring. This is what makes each pair of shoes unique to the next pair.

We love these unique textures and believe they are part of what gives Veldskoen their beautiful character!

Veldskoen are made from 100% genuine African bovine leather. When we make a pair of shoes, we don't use corrected grain leathers to get a uniform look.  That is why, in some cases, there may be a very slight variance, in texture and shade,  from one shoe to the other. We love this uniqueness. We call it character!

PRODUCT FIT AND CARE

Our Veldskoen shoes are unisex and have a wide fit. We recommend men order their usual UK size, but that women size down.

If in doubt about your size, the best thing to do is to measure your foot.

Our Find Your Fit size guide will help you.

Veldskoen shoes are great for normal and wider feet! Our shoes are made on an EE wide fit last.

We do not manufacture half sizes, as the wide fit already caters for them.

Our shoes are built for fashion and for comfort, so they have roomy toe box. If you normally wear a half size, we suggest ordering down, rather than up. See our size guidefor more information.

Your Veldskoen may take a day or two of wear to break in and conform to your feet. Once they do, they will be so comfortable, you might see them as an extension to your feet.

Heritage shoes and Chelsea boots:

These ranges are made from suede leather. Dirt can be removed with a soft cloth and more stubborn dirt you can removed with light brushing with a suede wire brush. We advise using a suede/nubuck cleaning product to clean every once in a while.

Don’t wash your Veldskoen shoes with water. If they do get wet, let them dry in the sun. Scrunch newspaper into balls and stuff them inside to hurry the drying process.

Chukka and Woodstock shoes:

Our Chukka boots and Woodstock boots are made from strong, full grain, oily waxy leather, which softens and darkens, as it ages.

We recommend caring for them with any good quality Leather Cream.

We prefer SPOTLESS above any other brand for cleaning and nourishing our leather shoes.
